Hello all
I tried using ufile.ca to prepare my non-resident Canadian return.
But I did not find any forms for Quebec after I provided my status info.
Is this normal?
Please confirm with this.
Thanks in advance.

Do I have to file return to Quebec as non-resident of Canada
Moderator: Mark T Serbinski CA CPA
first off, are you sure you should be filing a non-resident return?
If you left canada in 2006, you file a DEPARTURE return, which is a normal return but with a departure date (and QC return would also be filed, with same departure date).
If you left Canada in 2005 or earlier, you only file non-resident return for very limited types of income. Generally this would only be a federal return, unless you had QC real estate sale, or employment income from QC.
Based on your previous posts, youare NOT filing a non-resident return for 2006. You would know this by reading the Emigrants guide.

Thanks a lot as always, Nelsona.
I have this feeling for quite a while, whenever unexpected things happen,
usually the basic principles were not followed properly.
I guess that's exactly my situation.
The reason I got NR return was that when I tried with ufile.ca,
I provided [Non-Resident] for the field, "Province of residence on December 31, 2006".
Is it appropriate to put Quebec on this field even I left in April?
The interesting thing was that with NR return, it gave me the option to enter RL-1 slip,
and it generated a couple of hundred more tax refund.
Really appreciate your time and advice.

You should be indicating QC, and the correct departure date. ufile should have the smarts to figure it out after that.
There is a interview question on whether you have left or not.
This will then take you to a table to fill out your schedule A.
The tax refund was because it took your tax paid to QC and credited federally. this is not your case.
