U.S. citizen waiting for P.R. Quebec--Need tax HELP...

Post by doggie »

Hello, I am a U.S. citizen married to a Canadian. I am waiting for my p.r. to come through from Quebec as family sponsorship. I applied from the U.S. I hope to VISIT or STAY with my husband in Canada starting in June until my p.r. comes through. Can I work as a visitor doing contract work for a U.S. based internet company? When I receive my p.r. does the company have to do anything. How do I pay Canadian taxes and most importantly QPIP (maternity benefits) as I hope to start a family in the next year. Do I just sign up in Quebec after getting p.r. at the revenue dept as self-employed? Thank you very much for any advice...
