Can a TN worker accept honorariums?

Post by freedom77 »

I am working in the USA on a TN. I am certified to teach seminars. Some (not all) of these seminars extend honorariums to the instructors. Teaching these seminars are not part of my TN job description. As far as I know these honorariums are not taxable, but are like receiving a gift. However, I would like to see if someone else has a similar experience or knowledge that would help me make the correct decision.

Am I allowed to accept an honorarium while working on a TN?

Doing any 'work' not specifically outlines in your TN, or for someone other than your sponsor(s), including yourself is risky.
nelsona non grata. Non pro. Please Search previous posts, no situation is unique as you might think. Happy Browsing :D
