Do we have to pay Canada/Quebec taxes for 2006?

Post by slamarre »

Hi,

Our family moved to Florida in the first week of March 2006.

I worked for a US company the entire 2006 years. 2 months in Quebec and the remaining 10 months in Florida.

My wife left her job end of Feburary 2006 and she is not working here because she simply can't (TD visa).

How we should proceed with our Canadian/Quebec taxes?

Anyone already went through this process?

Thanks.

We all have.

Look at the CRA website for "Emigrant" filing guide. You will pay tax in Canada/QC on your Income before you left.

For US, you will likely report all income from everywhere for the entire year, and then take credit for the Cdn tax paid, and/or exemmtp the Cdn wages.

There are dozens of posts on this below. Happy browsing.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
