Departure Return

Post by adeboloj »

My primary resident became a rental property after i emigrated from Canada to the US!
An agent is in charge and deducts 25% withholding on rent generated monthly and remits to CRA.

My question is, should i not report income generated from rental property after my departure on my tax return and i should simply file section 216 for the period i was non resident of Canada in 2019? I am trying to recoup some of the withholding fees remitted to CRA.
Thank you

Called CRA today and response was that, for the period you are non resident, you need to file separate section form 216 to recover some of the withholding fees.
Hope this helps for people who needs to know.
