Need Tax advice...
Im presently working in the US on a H1 visa. I will be moving to Toronto, end of october to maintain my PR card and then become a citizen. My h1 is valid till Feb'07. I will be staying in Toronto in November and setting up a house, bank accounts etc... Whole of December I will be outside the country on business/vacation. My employer will be depositing pay checks in the bank in US for November/December. So my question is I will obviously pay US taxes for the whole year, but do I need to do anything about Canadian taxes.
Yes. you will begin reporting WORLD income to Canads (and Province) the day you move.
See the "newcomers" guide on the CRA website.
A portion of the taxes you pay in US will be credited on your Cdn tax return.
