Canadian principal residence with shared ownership

Post by pavels »

Hi
Could you help me to to find a better solution with our principal residence in Canada
Our house has mutual ownership
This year I am in US on 3 year TN visa since March
My wife move to me in August

For how long we can sell our house as principal residence without taxes ?
- during one year of my leave?
- during one year of my wife's leave?
- some other special conditions?

How principal residence sales tax calculated if one of two owners is non resident?

Thanks
Pavel

Your half: one year from when you left.
Her half, one year after she leaves.
nelsona non grata. Non pro. Please Search previous posts, no situation is unique as you might think. Happy Browsing :D
