Resident/Non-resident filing jointly

Post by pradovic »

I meet physical presence test for 2005, my wife does not (we both lived in US ate the end of 2005).
TurboTAX states we are still OK to file jointly as residents. Right or wrong?

I'm quite sure turbotax has no idea whether you can file jointly or not, but just gave you one of the 2 possible answers.

let me assure you though that you can, as long as you report all world income from the entire year.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
