Form 8854 and RRSP/IRA/401k

Post by Fug1 »

I abandoned my green card last year and need to file form 8854 with my 2019 tax return.

The balance sheet portion of this form has separate line items for marketable stock/securities and pensions. For the purposes of this form, are RRSPs, IRAs and 401ks considered marketable stock/securities or pensions? I'm not sure which line item to put those in. Also, do I need to include the adjusted basis for these accounts, since their tax treatment is different from standard investment accounts.

Thanks in advance!
