TN-TaxReturn

Post by tntaxpayer »

Thanks ahead for anyone who is willing to response my questions.
I am currentely under TN status working in NJ since last Feb.No planning to go back to Canada, no any ties except spouse in Canada.Wondering what procedure should I follow in my best interest for the 2004 tax return. How much it will cost to have a specialist to work on my case?

To say that you have no ties in Canada except spouse is like saying one has no signs of bad health except that of not breathing.

You remain a Cdn resident based on your spouse. Unless you can prove that your spouse has been planning all along to join you, but has been temporarily delayed, you will not be able to get out of paying Cdn tax on all your income.

Read IRS Pub. on Aliens to see what complexities will come in your first US return, but realize that any tax you save in US will be gladly taken by CRA.
