Do I need to include form 8891 with US tax return

Post by eortlund »

I know it's no longer used to report RRSPs and defer taxation.

But since we collapsed them this year and are reporting that to IRS, do we include 8891s?

I can still see it on the IRS website and print it off, but Turbotax didn't generate them for us, despite our input about RRSP distributions.

Three people asking about this after no one mentions it for 3 years. Curious.
8891 is dead.
nelsona non grata. Non pro. Please Search previous posts, no situation is unique as you might think. Happy Browsing :D

Thanks for the answer, I promise there is no '8891 question' conspiracy.

I was just searching the forum to confirm the instructions for RRSP reporting. As a refresher, I believe we only need to include this information on Form 8938 and the FinCEN FBAR.

Still, it seems the information on Serbinski's RRSP page is outdated, since it's still referencing Form 8891. https://serbinski.com/working-in-usa/rrsp
