1040/1040x

Post by JohnSt »

A simple one: I'm amending back returns using 1040x. I'm changing 1040, adding 2555EZ (for my wife), and 8891 (for both of us). But I am not changing 2555EZ for myself. Should I go ahead and include that form anyway (a new one since I don't have copies), or explain somewhere that I am not changing my original 2555EZ? I'm concerned it will get lost in the shuffle and the IRS will say my income was not excluded.

In my case, I'm also required to do this back to 2002, which is pre-statute --so, again, I wonder about the original form getting lost. Thanks.

You are, in effect, changing line 21. This will be indicated on 1040-X, so I wouldn't worry that all of a sudden they will forget the past.

2555 will have her name on it. the old one had yours.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
