Don't worry about the posts.

I have always used online.....
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

I too am wanting to know options for e-filing from Canada where the tax software has Form 8833.

I've wanted to stop having someone do my 1040 for some time because the costs keep going up, the service going down, and the length of time they've finished my return has been later and later. Last fall when the guy said he couldn't get to the 1040 until after October 15, that was the final straw.

I came across this article that has a good summary of online software. Unfortunately only a few of them allow e-filing from Canada and also have form 8833.

I used MyExpatTaxes. It was specifically created for USC living abroad, and the "friendly rating" was high. I can confirm that the support was excellent, and I emailed them many times since this was my first year and I wanted to make sure I was entering things correctly. The only downside is the cost. Prices are quoted in Euros and then converted to Cdn the day you pay and it cost me about $230 Cdn. For sure less than my tax firm.

I researched Turbo Tax and it does NOT have form 8833. You can e-file your return but you need to find another way to complete the 8833 (like Free Fillable Forms), and I've read that you then have to mail the form 8833 to the IRS.

I think my second choice is OLT. I often see it referenced on a more global chat group I read. Does anyone on here have comments about using OLT?
