RRSP 8891

Post by Journadian »

Do I need to file 8891 for my RRSP accounts? I'm thinking no because of "IRS Simplifies Procedures for Favorable Tax Treatment on Canadian Retirement Plans and Annual Reporting Requirements"

https://www.irs.gov/uac/newsroom/irs-si ... quirements

I'm the owner of the accounts (not beneficiary or annuitant). so, no file? I've been searching the forum but I just want to be sure.

any advice appreciated thanks

Your tax software will handle all this correctly. 8891 is defunct for a few years now.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
