I am a Canadian. I work on TN visa for a US company at moment. I filed 1040NR for last year. And I filed Canadian Resident for Canada. I find TN holder can request U.S Social Security/Medicare tax exemption under Totalization Agreement for the first 5 years in US. Is it correct? I just want to make sure not be double taxed from both countries.
Also, is it pros/cons to ask for this exemption (if I am eligible)?
Many thanks
Can I ask for FICA exempt (TN, working at US, file 1040NR)

Incorrect. You could get an exemption if your were working for Cdn fimr in US (transferred) and were still paying CPP, but this is not your case. You are fully liable for paying FICA on your US employment income in your case.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
