Interest income on Canadian saving bank

Post by Nishant »

I had informed my Canadian bank of my US address. I expected bank to withhold 25% tax on interest income. However bank sent me interest statement without withholding tax.

I file only rental property income tax return to CRA. I do not think, you can report any other income on it. How do I pay tax on small interest income to CRA?

Of course, I will be reporting the interest on US tax return.

Canada does not tax Cdn bank interst for US residents. It used to be 10% but is now zero.

Report only in US.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
