I'm filing 1040NR for 2013 in which 2013 was my moving year. I know prior to moving I had W8-BENs in place with US institutions although after I moved some banks gave me W9s which makes things confusing. For 2014 I've made sure they all have W9s since I will meet the SPT for 2014.
My question(s) is/are do I have to report 2013 Dividend and Interest income on my 1040NR?
- I know for W8-BEN if the correct amount was withheld it was my final tax obligation. Does that change if I'm present in the US and/or do I need to attach 8833 to exempt it?
- For the banks who had W9's on file in 2013 I'm expecting they'll give me a 1099-INT and Is this something I have to report even on a non-resident return?
1040NR Reporting Dividend and Interest Income W8-BEN/W9

The only dividends you need to report are oines from US firms, and these should be taxed at the treaty rate, on the NEC part of the 1040NR.
You do not need to report bank interest on the 1040NR.
W8 and W-9 are for withholding purposes, not necessarily final taxation.

After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
