Hi,
I have left Canada in year 2011 Dec. & started working for a US firm since Jan 2012. I have sold my house in year 2011 and my family also moved with me to USA. However, i still have money in RRSP, a canadian bank account, driving license, OHIP cards etc. Recently, when i enquired with my tax consultant, he is asking me to pay 12 K + tax to CRA. Is it too late for me to declare a Non-resident of Canada since its more than a year i moved to USA. Any help would be appreciated. I dont think i can afford 12K + taxes......

You need to amend your 2011 tax return to indicate that you left canada on whatever date you did. This will avoid you having to report any US income. There is an Emigrant guide from CRA which explins thius, and you should have follwoed that last year.
Your DL and OHIP card are invalid anywy, sicne you moved away, but even those things you mentioned does NOT make you a tax resiident of Canada.
You live and work in US. Plain and simple.

Yes, you should have advised GST and CCTB them as soon as you left. Funny how people forget to do this when it is money they are getting, but when it starts to cost you, then how easy it is to want to folow the rules.
