Did not file Schedule A but Schedule CA 540NR requires it

Post by panek »

I did not file a Schedule A on my federal return (already mailed it) as I claimed the standard deduction.

I've noticed on Schedule CA 540NR that I am required to report certain items from 1040 Schedule A. I have filled these in on Schedule CA 540NR; however, they end up being irrelevant since I will be claiming the standard California deduction.

Will I need to mail in a completed Schedule A?

And if so, do I need to amend my entire federal return or can I mail that form in separately?

Thanks!

Answered my own question:

I can leave those sections blank or I can attach a 1040 to my 540NR.

Thanks
