Canadian Citizen working remotely for a US company

Post by j_young22 »

Hi, I have a tax/legal question for anyone willing to help.

I am working online on a contractor position. I am a Canadian Citizen working for a US company. I also travel the majority of the year so I'm rarely in Canada for long periods of time. I'm paid via Wire Transfer on a monthly basis.

I'm looking for all the legal/tax info I need for my particular situation.

Thanks,

Jake

When you travel to the US, what is your status?

So, you are considered Cdn tax resident, and as a contractor yoare taxable in canada, but you are also taxable in US on that income if you spend more than 183 days in ANY 365 day period in US, so be careful.
