Corp-to-Corp or 1099 or W2

Post by thirdcup »

I am canadian. Recently I got a contract job offer from U.S. which will start next year.

My questions are:

1. Should I do corp-to-corp or 1099 or W2? Should I register a company in Canada in 2005 or in 2006? The job will start in early of 2006.

2. Do I need to apply SSN for myself and apply EIN for my Canada company in U.S.?

3. Do I need to file tax in both countries for 2006?

4. Can I deduct my U.S. expenses? What type of expenses are deductable?

5. Is it worth to find a good accountant who knows cross-border tax well in Toronto? And how much will cost?

Thank you,
Carson

3rd,

Please provide more details, such as:

- where will the work be performed? What kind of work is it?
- how long is the contract?
- will your duties be the same as those of an employee?
- why do you need a corporation for this? It adds complexity and cost.

The contract is 6 months. Only myself will be working as an IT consultant there.

I heard to do corp-to-corp, I'll be able to claim a lots of expandsand even split income to relatives. What's the difference between corp-to-corp, 1099, W2W. In my case which one will do the best benefit for me?

I'm really don't know much about accounting , so I thought get some good advices before I start.
