Green card holder but living in no state of the US

Post by cliffie75 »

I have a bank account and an address in the US, but I pay no US rent, earn no US income etc. I consider myself a factual resident of Canada. Can I just submit a Federal IRS tax form ? nothing to any state ? Can I submit a 1040 (resident version) using my Canadian address ?

YEs.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

Thank you very much for your help. As a point of information for others on the forum, I found out later that the State of Massachusetts does allow Foreign Tax Credits for Canadian tax, which might mean the tax could be whittled down to 0.
