Commuter working in Michigan, Michigan state tax 100% back

Post by jhuang1213 »

I was told that some canadians (cross border commuting worker) were able to claim 100% of their michigan state income tax back due to the fact that they are not living in Michigan but just working there. It is very intrigue to me.

Can they do that? If it is true, how to fill Michigan 1040?

Thanks

Not correct. wages earned in Michigan are fully taxable in Michigan. However CANADA will credit the Michigan tax.

Even if michigan did give you all the tax back, this would merely give the money to CRA.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
