Question about return filed, nelsona, urgent help need

Post by ikeaidea »

I mailed out 2010 return by certified mail with return receipt this week. When I check the delivery status, for Federal, it showed delivered but send to different city which I mailed. For state, it showed delivered but with different Zip Code. For TD-F, only show accepted, but nothing else.

What should I do now? May I file extension now? Will it be any trouble for me? I am sure that the post office delived to wrong address. Will the gov transfer my return to correct department? Please help!

call the IRS and explain your self and see what they say it could be teh return was sent to a central processing facility different from where you mailed it if so they should be able to tell you, but then again the IRS is help not the best place to get info but call at least.

Who cares?
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

I asked the post officer, the supervisor said he agreed that the federal return was mailed to wrong address per the delivery information and he cannot sure that it will be transferred to correct address.

Do you still think I don't need file extension and safe?

Thanks!

Again, who cares what IRS does with your return?
