TN Visa Taxes

Post by St0nE »

Hi,

Here is my situation. I have help my TN visa since July 2010. I haven't had any income in CDN since then. I have already filed a 1040(due to my wife being a citizen). I was wondering how I file my CDN taxes? Do I file as a non-resident? Would I set "Province of residence on December 31, 2010" as the province I was living in or non-resident? Do I actually need to claim forien income? Would I claim both fed/state tax paid?

I will be in the USA for at least another 2 years.

Thanks,

John

You are deperting Canada, so you show province, but put departure date. Software wil lfigure it for you.

You will not show any foreign income on your Cdn return.

You have shown foreign income on your US return, so how did you handle that ?
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
