Income in Canada for US worker: Schedule C vs form 1116

Post by Seb4321 »

I'm a Canadian citizen working in the United States (H1-B). I did a bit of consultation while I was in Canada for a few weeks in the summer. The Canadian firm I worked for retained 15% of what I charged them for federal taxes (Canada).

I would like to know how to enter my Canadian income when filing my taxes in the United States. Should I fill schedule C or form 1116? Also, how should I include Canadian taxes on one of these forms?

Thanks you much!

You will file a Cdn non-resident retiurn to get the 15% back, and then add the income to your 1040 as self-employed. There is self-employed schedule.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
