Emmigrant T1 schedule `, do I pay non-resident surtax

Post by animalchin »

I'm filing my departure return and am calculating my total tax with schedule A. I was a resident of BC until May 2010 and am now a resident of WA. Do I need to take the 48% non-resident surtax, or do I just file the entire return as though I was a resident of BC the entire year (but without reporting foreign income after my departure date)?

You file as a resident of BC until the date you left reporting income from Canadian Sources until teh date you left including any deemed dispositions on departure from Canada, at that point you do not pay the non resident surtax.
