pensions vs. RRIFs

Post by ububba »

If the source of an RRIF is a part of one's pension, does it still need to have an 8891 form filled out?

Yes, RRIFs must be reported on 8891 to account for the trust aspect usually addressed in form 3520.

The fact that it was a pension only changes the way it will eventually be taxed by IRS.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
