Canadaian Tax for TN1 holder in US

Post by jovan1 »

I was working all last year in US for US employer.
I have only US income, no Canadian income.
I have W-2 form and finished filing US and state tax.
How can I claim income tax deducted in US/
Where do I claim it? Is that on line 437 Total Income Tax deductions (other deductions?
Or somwhere elase accourding to Treaty.

If you left canada, you should not be reporting US income in canada, and should file a departure return.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

Still doesn't mean you were taxable while living in US.

But if you do insist hat you are taxable in canada, I've answered that many times.

Happy browsing.

Post by jovan1 »

Can I change 2007 return and make it departure return?
I have filed wrongly returns for 2007 and 2008.
After that I should request change for 2008 return.
Am I right?
Thanks.
