Does my wife need to file my worldwide income

Post by perrickd »

Hello!

My wife lives in Canada and I live in the US. I haven’t moved to Canada yet. Does my wife need to file her 2019 taxes with my SIN and worldwide income?? What happens if she doesn’t? Or what if she puts $0?

Thanks!

She needs to include your income only on the front page, so that she does not collect any benefits that she is not entitled to based on your joint income. You are not taxable in Canada until you move there.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
