What to file for Canada Emigrants ?

Post by Alwaysdream »

I'm canadian citizen who left Canada since 2007, I filed 2007, 2008 Tax in canada, but decide that I want to terminate residency Jan 1, 2009.
I wonder
1- Do I need to file canada tax? will that be T4056 ,
2- what things I need to report?
3- Will I need to report my home sale if it happen in June 2009. Will I have to pay capital gain?
4- Can I use ufile?

I search the form for the answers but get 43 pages of resuls, so I appreciate any help

There is no basis for saying you left on jan 01, 2009.

You need to go back and fix the old returns, for that date you really left.

One thing working against you is that when you sold your house, you should have already declareed you were non-resident, and have thus failed to comply with non-resident requirements.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
