As 401(k) or IRA contribution is deductible in Canada now, up to the amount of available RRSP contribution room, then the corollary of that would entail an RRSP deduction in the U.S. up to the amount of allowable contribution into a U.S. retirement account.
My question is "what is that allowable amount?"
Is it the amount of eligible IRA contribution? If so, what about taxpayers like me who also can contribute to a 401(k).
Please advise.
Thanks.

IRA contributions do not count, as they are not deductible. Only 401(k) or other similar EMPLOYER-SPONSORED.
Similarly, only RRSPs made thru employer are eligible for deduction on US return.
