Living in Canada earning money from UK.

Post by nicemandan »

Hi I'm an expat Brit in Canada and I've been approached by an old UK client to do a couple of freelance jobs.

I have a full time job in Canada and the freelance jobs would just be something I'd do in my own time. They're website jobs and my physical location will be in Canada for a UK client.

It would be preferable if the client pay the money into my UK bank account.

So, how/where do I declare the the Tax. In the UK (where the job is) or in Canada (where I am)?

Regardless of what you might have to report in UK, you will have to report it in Canada, simply because you live there, as well as earning the money in Canada.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best
