How to count days for residency when in transit

Post by Nishant »

Can somebody clarify how to count US/ Canada travel day in transit when you start in one country and reach in few hours to another country. Which country you count as resident for that day.

Do you count it for the country where you spend night or where you spend more than 12 hours or more during 24 hour period ?

Thanks

Are you really cutting it that close? Trad the definition in IRS Pub 519.
After 20 years, I am severely cutting back on responses. Do not ask specifically for my help. There are a few others on this board that can answer most questions. All the best

Nelsona- Thanks.

Definition of "At any time present during the day in US" helps since exeptions are not applicable.

The cushion is small so every small bits help.
