Left ira in usa..any rules I don't know?

I am no longer living in the usa, and I am filing taxes in Canada...I am a Canadian citizen. I have my rsp in the usa in a traditional ira. Do I need to file anything yearly with the irs showing I am not touching that money? Do I need to tell Canada I have that ira and I am not touching it? So much ...

are us taxes and penalties paid claimable on my cdn return

I left the us in 2012, and just paid out my taxes and penalties to the irs....I was wondering, if any portion of that is claimable, or is there a line on my cdn return where I can enter that...assuming this is beneficial for me. TIA

Canadian receiving support payments from US.

As a Canadian resident, receiving alimony payments from the USA...do I have to claim all payments rec'd, or just the amount that I actually bring over to Canada.? Right now, my payments go to my us bank account, and I withdraw as needed. And if so, what method of conversion do I use, when the bank r...

Alimony. Alimony and similar amounts (including child support payments) from Canadian sources paid to U.S. residents are exempt from Canadian tax. For purposes of U.S. tax, these amounts are excluded from income to the same extent they would be excluded from income in Canada if the recipient was a C...

receiving alimony from US, living in Canada

I am a Canadian citizen/resident. I was living in the US, and got divorced there. I am now back in Canada, receiving alimony from my X, who is in the US. I've been told different things...so, do I have to claim it in Canada as income, or am I exempt under the treaty? Thank you.

keeping ira heading to Canada

Assuming my income stays in the lowest tax bracket in Canada 20%, I can see the arguement for leaving my ira as is, and NOT rolling it to a Roth. Even though I will have to pay the US 15%, the foreign tax credit will get some of that back. Whereas, if I do the rollover on 200,000,00 I would loose so...

OK, took awhile, but you had asked why they wanted me to keep the IRA, I finally got my answer. Because, if nothing changes, I will have a low income, and they said with paying the 15% to the US, and claiming the foreign tax credit it would be better than having rolled it into a Roth. Assuming I pay...

Sorry, I am making this very confusing I know.
I actually have just had it moved from the 401k and it is sitting in an account waiting to be dealt with, this week now that the holidays are over.
Would how I am taxed be different if I remove some now, before I roll over the rest?

My income for this year will be 15,000.00, and I file HOH. I am going to need to make a withdrawal on my Roth before I leave, I would like to end up with about 30,000.00. If I take 50,000.00 out, I pay 30% to the irs, am I still in a low enough income bracket in the USA to do this? I am asking becau...
