My wife and I are Canadian citizens residing in United States. I am on a H1 visa and she is on H4. She has been offered a job as a RN and we plan to appear at the border for her TN visa. Currently she has an ITIN number which I used while filing the return? As for the Canadian non resident return, she would file the return to show the income a...

When you say "little other income" does it mean extra income other than that I am earning under employment. I am currently employed and will be working in US. In parallel I wanted to withdraw my RRSP's in Canada. It seems for withdrawing RRSP I will have 25% of amount withheld but do I hav...

Thanks. It seems clear when you put it!!! HOwever, there might be a chance that my employer might work on my green card (if work picks up....well hope for!).
If that does happen in next couple of years, then I might rue myself not entering into the market when it was down!

IRA

I am a Canadian citizen working in the US for 3 years. I have been filing my income taxes as a US resident. My stay in US would not last more than 3 years and I might have to return back to Canada. I plan to open an IRA investment account this year. Is it better to open a IRA or a regular investment...

Thanks. However, if I do plan to cash in the RRSP, what implications I am looking at? Do I file a return and pay taxes caused by cashing the RRSP?

Canadian RRSP for US Resident

TDF 90-22.1 for year 2008

Is the filing of form TDF90-22.1 in year 2008 different than from 2007. Form 2008 calls for interest in number of financial accounts. If the accounts are less than 25, there is no requirement to complete rest of the form but indicates to retain records for information. Does that mean that if I have ...
