Re: Pro Forma 1040 for XXV(4) calculation for US Return 2018
The Ontario health premium I am looking at as a tax paid to take as a deduction on a pro forma 1040. Not as medical expense. For property tax (I had this printed out a while ago) from a post I saw for (Canadian TN commuting to US - how to file next year?) I have part of the URL (https://forums.serbi...

You mean I can't deduct property taxes on my home in Canada on my pro forma 1040 Schedule A?

Re: Pro Forma 1040 for XXV(4) calculation for US Return 2018
Please disregard questions 1 to 4 which I had. #1. This was answered in another post for Article XXV for Canadian Residents as to where to put and calculate. #2 - I have not seen any references to including a Canadian return on any pro forma posts I have come across so I will take that as a no. #3. ...

Re: Article XXV for Canadian Residents
I am looking at using pro forma myself and already drafted my forms to see what they would look like. I actually posted separately but did not realize this post actually had a specific calculation I needed. I had searched for ‘pro forma’. I thought this was as simple as transferring one number from ...

Pro Forma 1040 for XXV(4) calculation for US Return 2018
Hello, I have looked at the different posts which have mentioned the use of Pro Forma. The Pro Form detail for XXV(4) is here: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-trty/canatech.pdf starting on page 47. Based on the tax changes for US citizens this may benefit me and others to use a 1040 like a US citizen but...

Possible effects of new tax bill on cross-border taxes.
I know only 3 percentages from the tax treaty that can be applied to not effectively connected income. That is my familiarity. Nothing more.
I'll search again. My first search didn't yield hits.
Hopefully someone else answers. I was the only one.

Schedule K-1 - How to report income (loss) on 1040NR
I did and had a hard time following. A big question mark I had was if this was effectively connected or not effectively connected. Perhaps I should have asked just that. The line entry points to effectively connected. Going back to the instructions this now makes more sense. I didn't realize the sch...

Possible effects of new tax bill on cross-border taxes.
Ran into this now that I have looked through this message board. I have thought about it as I too am a commuter from Canada filing a 1040NR each year. Live in Canada. I am Canadian with a Canadian spouse and US born children. But I am not well informed yet on the potential impact. I am curious about...

Schedule K-1 - How to report income (loss) on 1040NR
Hi There, I have gone through the forum to see if my question could be answered but I have not found what I am looking for with my scenario. I am a Canadian resident working in the US (commuting back and forth) and I was provided a Schedule K-1 for a US connected investment I put money into. I know ...
