Not an expert but here are my 2 cents. This is my personal view.... Your underlying assumption that the value of the property is going to go up in couple of yrs, does not convince me. In coming years the value of property is going to go south, therefore this would be the right time to sell it. Agree...

After reading and studying all the forms one thing has become very clear. Following example would clear it up. Hope my understanding is right on this matter. Say as a Canadian citizen you made 30K until say July 07 and then for the rest of the year you make 40K in USA. (say USD:CAD=1:1) You are fill...

In our case they had let us know right away what was the outcome. While answering the questions the officer is going to quiz you about things like marraige, where did u met, family members etc. They are just trying to do there job by verifying that whether this is a genuine marraige or a fake one. For Canada for last 5 yrs I m using Intu...

But as I m filling 1040 in US I would be declaring my world income and claiming foreign tax paid on that income. I came to two different forms. Form 1116 (foreign ta...

I got confused today when I talked to IRS. AS I said before that I would be filling as a US resident.(1040) for married filling jointly for year 2007. My Canadian income was from Jan -jun 2007, and US income was from July onwards. I would be reporting my Canadian income in US and further taking a cr...

Well I could have informed CCRA that I m emmigrating if I would be knowing myself. I was thinking at that time to file taxes as Canadian and filling my world income in Canada. It was only after I had asked a question in this forum and later became clear that I would be filling as a US resident(1040)..
