8938

I want to see if I can avoid this form. I have RRSP accounts that are under the threshold requirement to report 8938. Also I'm a beneficiary to a RDSP (not owner which I have been reporting on form 3520). For the 8938 is it the aggregate amount including the RDSP?

dual tax employment question

On 2016 I worked in canada for 2 months and the rest in USA as a PR (as I just immigrated to USA). So on my 2016 taxes I was unaware that I had to do the waiver and the canadian company was told from the cra that they had to withhold 15% tax for the 2 months. Anyway they paid the cra and also deduct...

RDSP beneficiary - file 3520

My mom opened a RDSP for me years ago. I'm aware I would need to file a 3520. Upon filling form it ask if I have a beneficiary statement from 3520-A. To my understanding only US residents owners of the trust fill the 3520-A form, so my mom (canadian res) would not do this. Do I fill out the 3520-A? ...

RRSP 8891

Do I need to file 8891 for my RRSP accounts? I'm thinking no because of "IRS Simplifies Procedures for Favorable Tax Treatment on Canadian Retirement Plans and Annual Reporting Requirements" https://www.irs.gov/uac/newsroom/irs-simplifies-procedures-for-favorable-tax-treatment-on-canadian-...

Thanks for the reply nelsona It's nice to know I can get some back.. So you mean that I will get back from the American tax? I might be filing 1116 since it's a rental in Canada. I was in Canada self employed. My Canadian employer issued a T4a. but now since we discovered the waiver center wants to ...

Please explain withholding

Does paying withholding to the Cra mean I won't see this money again? Is there a way I can get it back? I have a rental income - paying the part 13 tax. Also had to do an international waiver for work in Canada. I discovered late that I had to do these. The amounts I need to pay back is really depre...

Is the little over 10k cdn dollars? If you're still under 10k usd you should be ok.
Check the year end exchange rate.. if you had to do the fear I think there would be a late penalty :(

https://www.fincen.gov

YouTube has some videos on how to fill the form.

Good luck

Tax help - self employ questions

I'm a USA resident moved here 10months ago. I worked as a consultant for a Canadian company and continued working for the same company in my us home. I'm extremely dumb for not researching sooner and am doing this last min. I have not done quarterly taxes or register as a sole proprietor. Questions ...
