departure tax on ccpc and stock portfolio

Hi, I was wondering how best to handle departure tax on these 2 assets when moving to the US permanently -

1. Stock portfolio of US stocks held in Canada. The broker says I cannot keep the account in Canada. Presumably, I can open a Us brokerage account and transfer the shares across country ...
