ND - I went to the Ste. Catherines, ON passport office. They said they will need the passport for ten days. I told them I need to head back to the US in 3 days. They agreed to do so and did infact return the passport with the certified copies within 3 days.

Thanks nelsona. That's correct...she has no income. Just a joint bank account with me (I myself moved last year) with value of less than $10K. There was minimal interest on it (its a checking account) which I added to my tax returns with CRA

My mother (a Canadian citizen) became a US permanent resident (green card) last year. Her income last year in both Canada and US was $0. She called up CRA to inform them that she is not a resident of Canada anymore. CRA asked her to send form NR73.

Just an fyi in case someone else finds themselves in this situation...I called CRA asking for a status on T2062 that I had submitted. Turns out they are taking a whopping 27 weeks to process it! Clearly they are in no rush :)
