I have a CDN corporation that I use for IT contract work. I have just started a 15 month contract in the US, whereby I travel each week to the US and home to Canada for weekends.

I am a Cdn resident with my own Cdn company that I use for contracting purposes.
I have the opportunity for a 12 month contract in the USA. I would travel back back and forth and remain a Cdn resident.

Having reread the form, one of the exceptions is that you need to have certified on 8854 about your past taxes, in order to be exempt from 8854. Ridiculous :shock:

OK, so assume I do need to file 8854....why on earth do they need the whole part V bit with all the gain calculations? Seems a ...
