I use Google search as an alternative to the somewhat broken search engine here: put "site:forums.serbinski.com", (no quotes), followed by your search terms, and it will limit to results in these forums.

Tax advantages of self-employed incorporation

Hi all, I understand that for a Canadian citizen living in Canada who works on a contract basis there can be significant advantages to incorporating and running the contracts through the corporation. As I understand it, the income is then taxed at the lower corporate rate going in, and the contracte...

All work would be performed remotely, in Quebec. I would be a contractor. Am I correct in thinking that I simply s...

Thanks again Nelsona. I just realized that I was in the US less than 183 days (started my job mid-year) so I think the treaty applies here?

Do I use 1116 Re-source to move it all to Canadian source and thus get credit for all tax on employment income?

Nelsona, thank you for the quick reply. So I use 1116 on 1/3 of the income, paying US tax on the rest. Can I take a Canadian credit for this or am I simply going to be subject to double taxation on 2/3 of the income?
