OK, thanks this helps and explains why my returns were done the way they were done. I have a lot of general limitation carryover and very little on passive. Good advice on the RRSP conversion.

Yes I use Serbinski since 2013.

A. In your responses to questions 1 and 3, on the surface it appears to conflict; probably more my ignorance than anything. (I.e. question 1 says a carryover can be used on general limitation income whereas question 3 ...

Thanks for the prompt reply. Probably an obvious question but I presume then if I were to spend most of the year in the US and merely travel to the Canada office from time to time for meetings then I'd only pay US taxes? This means I do not maintain a residence.

In 2015, my Canadian company will be setting up an affiliate company in the US. At that time I will then be paid from the US entity but will travel between the Canadian office and US office throughout the year. It is possible I could spend more that 183 days of the year in Canada this first year ...
