As they have very little income due to their student status, can you recommend a low cost or free software for a non-resident of ...

After moving to the US from Canada, would you advise collapsing a sizeable RRSP by periodic or lump sum withdrawals? Would this depend on the age of the RRSP holder? Thank you for confirming. My agreement quotes the US IRS Code, Seection 71 (1)(B) stating that the payments are not includable in gross income and not allowable as a deduction under Section 215.

I am interested in your response #2. How does the IRS deem a disposition on US citizens returning to the US?

Departure Tax

Can someone explain how one is taxed when one moves to the US from Canada (ie. the departure tax)? I am a dual citizen who was born and raised in the US, moved to and has lived in Canada for 26 years, has two grown dual citizen children, and is no longer married. I am considering relocating to a war...

I was born in the US and moved to Canada upon my marriage to a Canadian. I have since become a Canadian citizen, and my children (now grown) have dual citizenship, although have lived their entire lives in Canada. I would like to return to the US after 26 years in Canada. I am no longer married. I w...
