I live in Canada and work in the USA CRA accepted base Medicare tax, which is 1.45% of all wages CRA did not accept Medicare surtax, which 0.9% of wages about 250K for married filling joint. Both taxes are combined in W2 box 6, but CRA split out and base and surcharge and did not accept the surcharge.

Thanks, if this turns out to be the case then what happens when the deferral is paid out. My company will issue a W2 and deduct US federal and state taxes , how do I receive credit for income already taxed in Canada.

Nelsona who originally advised that Cdn wages were calculated from W2 (Box 1 + Box 12 D, E, F, S). Not W2 Box 5. Only Box 12D is populated on my W2 (the 401K contribution). Hello, Do CPP & EI cdn taxes qualify as foreign tax credits in the US?

I know Social Security paid in the US qualities as a tax in Canada so assume CPP should qualify going the other way?
