My passport is current and the letter from them isn't a denial letter just a non acceptance of information. I am thrilled as I have to drive 5 hours to the nears easy office.
Looked at the W-7 but am not sure it can apply to me. I am a non resident US citizen .
Thanks for your input.

SS# denied

Unbelievable but curious if anyone has experienced this. I am a US citizen who moved to Canada with my family at the age of 17. I did not have a SS# when I left the US and still don't. 45 years later. I take all of my immigration papers, US passport and birth certificate to the SS office and am told...

I had no other income during the year , only a $5000 distribution from my RRSP. My personal deductions were such that i got back what was withheld at time of distribution. When my Canadian income tax was done I received a refund. How do I show this on the 1040? I also show no other income on my 1040...

FBAR filing with joint account

I have a joint checking account with my disabled brother in law who is in a care facility. None of this money is mine. I just pay his bills. Do I claim this account on my FBAR.

Submissions for Streamlined Filing Compliance

As I have recently learned of the tax filing requirements for a US citizen living in Canada I am going to use the Streamlined method. This requires Tax returns for 2009-2011 plus 6 years of FBAR's. my question is, do I also include my 2012 return & FBAR in the streamlined package as it goes to a...

Thanks for the confirmation on the 8891. that is what i thought.
The amount earned in the TFSA was $300 one year and $110 another so it amounts to nothing. Certainly comes under the $1500 allowed. My confusion now is where to claim that interest on the 1040.

Withdraw funds from RRSP

I have withdrawn $5000 from my RRSP last year and paid the tax to Canada. I have been a resident in Canada for 45 years and am still an American citizen. My only home is in Canada. On the 8891 form am I the beneficiary or the annuitant? I have elected to defer taxes under the treaty.
