It did ask me the departure date and did say why I can't submit Netfile since I am non-resident.

I think I will try changing the province to Ontario and then country of resident as Non-Resident.

Thanks for clarification. This is what I have on return. I think I should select Ontario instead of Other. Enter your province or territory of residence on December 31, 2013: Other Your country of residence on December 31, 2013: Non-Resident Tick the box that describes your residency status as of De...

I missed the deadline. I tried submitting using Turbo Tax but it said, you can't Netfile since you are non-resident. I don't know should I have selected Ontario as my resident instead of non-resident that I chose? I changed my address on CRA website. Also in the provincial taxes area, it asked me ab...

Thanks. I didn't mean to post that info for your read, but was confirming. So my only question is, should I avoid filing NR73 in my case? And file the taxes as usual? I couldn't find which form to use for departure tax for emigrant and if I can use eFile/software. I am willing to pay someone who can...

So should I avoid filing NR73 form? This is what the emigrant guide says: When do you become a non-resident? When you leave Canada to settle in another country, you usually become a non-resident for income tax purposes on the latest of the following dates: â–  the date you leave Canada; â–  the date...

Can I choose to leave my RRSP in Canada and file 8891 to invoke treaty? Until I chose to withdraw. Why everyone says that IRS will tax my RRSP gains, when there is a way in treaty to get an exemption. Or am I reading it incorrectly. http://www.ehow.com/how_5918565_report-rrsp-u_s_-tax-return.html Se...

So the house is sold and the closing is in coming weeks. My family and I already left Canada following the sale. My real estate lawyer has asked me to submit a T2062 E form to him so it will be processed with my house closing.

Is there any catch on filing this form?

So calling CRA now to stop Child Benefits will not effect anything. Good.
I will also talk to them how can I replay HBP remaining dues as well.

Thanks.

As I mentioned you earlier, I read it in The Border Guide book that after becoming non-resident, if RRSP are with drawn with a plan, I can get some relieve from IRS for that year. CRA will deduct 25% period, no doubt about that. It says, for some people complete with draw is best for some gradual wi...

I got the GC back in December, but I didn't move until now. So the departure tax will be after I moved myself and my family, which will be next week. But someone said earlier here that I don't have to call CRA for the non-resident just now. But call them next year and keep the departure information ...

Oh. OK. Thats simple. But can the unused portion of the limit be carry forward to the next year? Is it also applicable on Roth as well? Is this limit including employer match as well or just the individual's?
