Sorry for reviving this thread but I'm a little confused on this. Does this mean a Canadian who is present in the US, cannot do any work for his Canadian employer at all? For example a Canadian on vacation and checking his *work* email, sending some emails, etc. I know its probably a minor detail to...

Basic Question about RRSP decution limit

Does this get reset if I don't use my RRSP deduction? I'm working in the US and I will probably have a 0 deduction increase in the next few years (0 income in Canada). So if I don't use up to my deduction limit this year, will I lose it after I return to Canada (likely a few years from now)? Or will...

When I said distributions, I meant withdrawls. OK so that answers my questions on that. I've got another question then, am I taxed on "growth" in the account AND capital gains? By "growth" I mean my asset valued at $1000 at the beginning of the year grows to be valued at $1100 at...

OK, I know my earnings are taxable in Canada on my Roth IRA, what about distributions? Will that get taxed too? Or do I have it backwards or something?

Anyone know of a national insurer who will recognize driving experience in Canada? I'm being charged high premiums because I've only had my US license a short while.

Yup, I see what you mean. If I had looked a little closer at some of the old articles on grasmick, I would've found out that they aren't the same. I was thinking of coverting to a Roth IRA, but I think I'll keep it traditional. Any ideas how they (CRA) will treat Roth 401(k)'s that will be available...

Well that makes it a little easier then. Sorry to nit-pick, but does it matter if it is a Roth or a traditional IRA? Do the same rules apply?

Got my DL in Florida but I had to surrender my BC License. Also, they pinned the expiry date of the Florida DL to the expiry date of my I-94 (TN). Anyone know how I can renew my Florida DL (before it expires) with my new TN yet? which I'll get at the border. Can I just claim I'm a B-2 and they'll re...

You likely will find this on the immigration forums but, wait at least 2 weeks after first TN approval to get SSN. This will (likely) put the card in your hands in about 4 weeks after getting TN, and you could have your number (call SSA) about 3 weeks after getting TN. Otherwise, you may find yourse...
