I'm in the process of transfering my stock portfolio from a Canadian firm to a USA firm.They are all US stocks.
I'd like to know what form I need to fill out in order to inform IRA in USA side.The US firm asked me to fill out W8 for the sake of notifying the IRA ,but somehow I don't feel that ...

I have several stocks with one of the stock brokerage firms in Canada.They are not mutual funds and they are not in RRSP either.They are just stocks.I don't need/want to sell them anytime soon.I'd like to keep them for 10-20 years.

Hi:
I have a good amount of CDN cash in Canada that I need to transfer to my US account in US.
I'm looking for a brokarege firm whose exchange rates are historically better than the big banks.
I would be hit terrible by taxing ,at least wanna loose less money during the exchange.
Any suggestion ...
